The present Country Report appears 35 years after the adoption of the First UN World Ageing Plan in Vienna and 15 years after the adoption of the Second UN World Ageing Plan in Madrid (MIPAA). The voluntary commitments made by the 56 UNECE member states in their UNECE Regional Implementation Strategy (RIS) have also been in existence for 15 years. It is based on the German National Plan of Action to implement the Second UN World Ageing Plan and the UNECE Regional Implementation Strategy “Challenges and Opportunities of Ageing Societies”, which was presented to the German Federal Cabinet in 2007, and the 2012 Country Report to mark 10 years since the MIPAA and RIS.
